fish's mowing

Picture
Lawns consist of many grass plants growing together. some lawns have one type of grass while others consist of a mix of many grass types.

cool season grasses such as Kentucky bluegrass, rye grass, bent grass, and fescues( (tall fescue, red fescue, etc.) produce the greatest root growth in mild temperatures such as spring and fall.

in long hot summers , cool season grasses tend to show signs of stress and may yellow or go semi dormant during extreme heat even turning brown if drought stressed

turf grasses are stressed by mowing , but they tolerate it well because they have growth points at their base, near the soil surface. Growth points are not at the tip of shoots. incorrect mowing practices can encourage weeds , disease , drought stress and general decline

when it comes to mowing we take special care of our equipment. We make sure our blades are always sharp to get the best cut possible. We fully understand that a dull blade usually leaves an uneven cut and in some cases turf may not be cut at all causing grass blades to fold over . Dull blades can also cause a an unsightly brown or white glare which cast over the turf. it can also cause the turf to lose water and causes it to draw off more reserves which opens the turf to possible disease We also understand that depending on grass variety and time of season , grass needs to be cut at a certain hieght . Depending on the type of turf (Ryegrass, Tall Fescue, Fine Fescue, kentucky Bluegrass, and Bent grass) the grass should always be cut at the higher end with only one third of the clippings being removed. We will also mow in different directions to reduce the forming of ruts in the lawn.
